Oxfordshire Branch AGM 2024

It was fantastic to welcome seventeen attendees to the first face to face event of 2024 on 2nd October. Despite some last-minute changes to the agenda it proved to be a full and engaging day and we'd like to thank everyone for their enthusiasm and willingness to join in.

Our guest speakers included Adele Williams from the RCN Activist Academy who spoke about the various ways we can support activism. It led to a helpful discussion about preparing for Congress 2025. Dr Sam Donohue, Assistant Director from the NMC spoke about the culture review the emerging changes, including significant investment to radically improve fitness to practice. Sam thanked members for their input and would consider how the issues raised could be used to inform ongoing work within the NMC.

Delegates heard about the RCN’s Professional Framework which highlighted the work undertaken including the new definition of ÌÀÍ·ÌõÎÛÁÏ. Rian Gleave RCN Lead Nurse, Independent Health & Social Care for the RCN produced a film which will be shared at a future branch event.

During the AGM the chair and secretary’s reports were presented and summarised a variety of activities undertaken over the past year. A copy of the branch annual plan was handed to branch members. Please do look at the plan and forward any comments. All of the documents shared at the event can be found on the branch page.

Theresa Curry RCN full time Officer sought nominations for the branch executive roles and there is a full team poised to take the branch forward from 1 January 2025 - exciting times!

A huge thank you to the members who were able to join the day and for participating. A number of important issues were raised and discussed and will inform the branch planning for Congress 2025.
