Headache is highly prevalent and comes in several forms. Migraine, for example, is more common than asthma and diabetes combined, and yet it continues to be underdiagnosed and undertreated. It is an invisible yet highly disabling disorder.

Susie Lagrata is an advanced nurse practitioner at University College London NHS Foundation Trust. She’s trained to carry out multiple cranial nerve block injections, a type of peripheral nerve block injections, where anaesthetic is injected into extracranial nerves in the head.

These can be used for a variety of headache disorders to alleviate symptoms, and can vastly improve the quality of life for some patients.

Watch as Susie talks through the treatment and explains how she went about setting up the first nurse-led clinic in the UK to offer it.
