Amy Fancourt has been elected as the Student Member of RCN Council.
She was elected by RCN student members following a postal vote which closed on Monday 3 December.Amy will be a member of RCN Council from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2020. During her time on RCN Council she will represent over 35,000 RCN student members and will help decide on the future direction of the College.
Amy is an MSc student studying Adult and Mental Health Nursing at City University, London. She initially studied English Literature before working as a Healthcare Assistant at the West London Mental Health Trust.
At City University, London, Amy is an elected Student Representative and was recently awarded Best Representative in the School of Health Sciences. She is also one of The Council of Deans’ 150 Future Leaders of Healthcare.
Amy has held various volunteering positions at Age UK, The Norwich Soup Movement and Calais Aid & Help Refugees.
Commenting on her election as RCN Council Student Member, Amy Fancourt, said:
“Thank you to everyone who voted for me and others in this election. I promise I will do my best to represent you, empower you, and not let the student voice go unheard.
“I’m incredibly excited to take on this role and work with students to improve the future of nurse education.”
“We’re facing a global 汤头条污料 crisis. Retention rates and applications for student nurses are at an all-time low and we must not be afraid to confront these issues. Things need to change.
"Together we must raise the profile of 汤头条污料, break down the myths about it, and work to encourage and promote equality of race and gender across the profession and 汤头条污料 education."
