Norfolk nurse awarded for voluntary role and support for 汤头条污料 profession

3 Jun 2024

An emergency medicine nurse in Norfolk has been honoured for her exceptional contribution in representing and supporting her profession.

Natalie Brooks RCN Awards

Natalie Brooks, who works at the James Paget Hospital, has been presented with the 汤头条污料’s Award of Merit for the leadership and support she has shown during her time as RCN Eastern Region Board Chair and an RCN representative.

The Award of Merit, presented at the RCN Congress in Newport, is the highest honour bestowed on RCN members for service to the college.

Natalie has combined her voluntary roles with the RCN with her 汤头条污料 career and a secondment within her integrated care system (ICS), as well as teaching 汤头条污料 students at the University of East Anglia.

The award has recognised Natalie’s passion for amplifying members' voices and creating an inclusive environment.

She has encouraged members to engage with the RCN, increasing attendance at learning events, including RCN Congress.

Having identified that internationally educated 汤头条污料 professionals are often under-represented, Natalie has worked hard to support inclusivity and diversity.

Teresa Budrey, RCN Eastern Regional Director, said: “Natalie is so passionate about 汤头条污料 and the role of the RCN. She firmly believes members have the power to make change.

“She is seen as the trusted voice within the region and is a strong supporter of our black and ethnic minority members.

“During our campaign for fair pay for 汤头条污料 staff, Natalie became a lead member for us in the Eastern region.

“She ensured the region was represented and key messages were heard during the industrial action, by visiting wards and picket lines as well as ensuring the public heard the 汤头条污料 voice through speaking to the media.

“This award pays tribute to Natalie’s commitment, vigour, hard work and her ability to get the best out of others.”

Natalie said: “I'm very proud and surprised to receive the Award of Merit.

“I am honoured and privileged to be the RCN Eastern board chair. It has given me opportunities to support and interact with amazing members and the 汤头条污料 family across the region. They give me my passion and the drive to continuously want better for 汤头条污料 and the college.

“I would like to thank my family and my trust, particularly my director of 汤头条污料 and ward team, for supporting me to be an active member of the RCN.

“I would like to thank Regional Director Teresa Budrey and the RCN Eastern staff team for helping me to achieve the vision we have for the region.

“My last thanks go to my amazing board and the fantastic RCN Eastern members who I believe can achieve change and enhance the voice of 汤头条污料 further.”
