Members working for CQC say pay award is acceptable

26 Sep 2023

Backdated payment is expected in October, but RCN will now explore CQC鈥檚 wider commitments.

Fair Pay For Nursing The majority of members working for the Care Quality Commission (CQC) who voted in our ballot have said the pay award for 2023-24 is acceptable.

The award includes a 4.5% pay rise for grades A, B and C; a 6% pay rise for grades D, E and F; and a 4.5% increase to homeworking allowance, occupational car user allowance and London allowance.

We understand it is CQC’s intention to implement the pay award in October’s payroll, backdated to September 2023.

As part of the pay deal, CQC also set out important commitments in other areas, such as work on pay scales and exploring the possibility of leaving the Civil Service Pay Remit, which limits CQC’s ability to negotiate pay. Now the RCN will seek to explore the wider commitments CQC put forward alongside this pay award.

RCN members employed by CQC had until Monday 25 September to vote on the pay award.

Earlier this year members working for CQC took industrial action short of strike over their 2022-23 pay award. This led to an improved pay offer, which members voted was acceptable. This was implemented and our 2022-23 trade dispute ended.
